These are designed to last for years under normal use but when they are exposed to optimal conditions including being submerged or heavily exposed to water continuously for a week or more, the biodegradation process will begin.  The beauty of this is that the Rice Husk products will never need to be disposed of by traditional means by clogging our landfills which is wonderful for our environment.
