This book was inspired when Ms. Rainville's two oldest children were five and seven. They spent the night at a friend's house and the eight-year-old boy took delight in telling them scary stories. "My children shared a room and after that experience they would not go to sleep unless I was in the room with them. After a few weeks, I spoke to a wise elder about my dilemma. His advice was 'Tell them a pedagogical story'. I listened hoping he would tell me more, but that is all he said. I went home and knew that I would need to create a story, but uncertain as to what it would be about. I sat down with my children and asked for guidance and this was the story that came through.
