Kite Paper

Kite Paper

[Add to Wishlist]

Our set of 100 sheets of colored wax paper, while traditionally used in the Netherlands for kite making, also is useful for transparencies, folding stars and many other creative projects. It is also food safe. The Christmas Craft Book, Rose Window, and Magical Window Stars each has great instructions for making beautiful stars to give as gifts or hang in a window.  Links to these books are below. The kite paper pads do not come with instructions. Made in Germany.

Three options, see pull down menu:

  1. 16x16 cm (6 1/4" by 6 1/4" inches) block of 100 sheets in 11 Rainbow Colors, Navy 9, Brown 9, Green 9, Purple 9, Yellow 10, Apricot 9, Light Green 9, Orange 9, Pink 9, Red 9 White 9.  These are pictured above.
  2. 70x50 cm (27 1/2" by 19 1/2" inches) roll of 100 sheets in 11 Rainbow Colors.  These are pictured below (click on first picture). OUT OF STOCK
  3. 16x16 cm block of 100 sheets in 5 Colors Set:  white, red, yellow, green and blue.  These are pictured below (second picture). OUT OF STOCK

Note about the 70x50cm Roll (option 2):  You may find an occasional sheet folded or crumpled.  We cannot help this as they are rolled and wrapped in Germany.  These edges may be ironed on Low Heat with a plain piece of paper below and another on top of the Kite Paper.

To answer the questions I get all the time, yes, this is what some people make kites from (get the larger roll size), no, I can't get other sizes, no, I won't break up a roll into a smaller quantity of sheets. Sorry. And, yes, we do ship internationally. Please see the "ordering information" section at the far bottom of the screen on the website for more information.

Sara of Love in the Suburbs has created a great blog tutorial with pictures and instructions to make Patriotic Window Stars. http://networkedblogs.com/MGlai.

Check out Charlie's very BIG star in the first picture below.  He made this using the 70x50cm sheets from the roll (option 2).  This star was taller than Charlie (age 8)!

"My order arrived safe and sound today.  Thanks. The papers are such beautiful colours.  I can't wait to start making window stars. Mairead F. Singapore 5/3/09"

"Hello Sonya,  Thank-you for the friendly and speedy service you provided. Also, thank-you for the beautifully packed box of treasures we received - much sooner than I was expecting. I commend you on your professional yet warming manner. My children are going to love some of the little treasures I bought from you and I am already enjoying whole heartedly the treasures I bought from you - All my windows are covered in window stars, as I am experimenting with different folds and geometric shapes. I am glad I chose the large roll of kite paper. My four year old is forever amazed in the morning at the arrival of another star. Great mini-gifts for Christmas! Thank-you again and I wish you a very happy Christmas and a world of wonder in the new year. With kindest regards, Rebekah I. Sydney, Australia, 12/16/2009"
